HOW MUCH DOES ADOPTION COST?

For Non-Legacy Animals:

$50* for Adult Cat $100* for Kitten

$100* for Adult Dog $150* for Puppy

*Plus additional medical fees for some specialty-care animals, which will be disclosed and discussed if applicable.

For Legacy Animals:

What Does the Adoption Fee include?

Adoptions fees include spay or neuter services, microchipping, required vaccinations, deworming (if necessary), valuable take-home information - and a new best friend!

I CAN’T ADOPT RIGHT NOW. HOW DO I SPONSOR AN ANIMAL?

Sponsoring a dog or cat is a great way to improve the lives of these animals when you can’t actually live with them! There are two ways to sponsor: Care Sponsorship and Adoption Sponsorship. Care Sponsors make monthly donations to helps us provide continuing care to your sponsored animal. Adoption Sponsors cover the adoption fees for a particular animal when someone else adopts.

We encourage you to drop by the shelter during normal business hours to visit with your “sponsoree”!

HOW CAN I GIVE?

Monetary donations are always greatly needed and appreciated, as is food for puppies and kittens. Our Amazon Wish List of other donations currently needed can be found here. Plus, there are other creative ways to help! Your Amazon purchases and eBay sales can support Thomasville Humane. You can even earn donations for the shelter by walking and shopping. HOW CAN I VOLUNTEER?

We would love your help! Please fill out the volunteer application found here. We hold volunteer training regularly. Once you sign up, we will let you know available training days.

If you want to volunteer for an event or fundraising project, we will connect you with the appropriate committee after we receive your application.

Is Thomasville Humane a “no-kill” shelter?

Yes, Thomasville Humane is a “no-kill” shelter as defined in the animal welfare industry, meaning every dog and cat in our care that can be saved, is saved.

“No-kill” facilities, like Thomasville Humane, are do not euthanize healthy and treatable animals, but only euthanize as a last resort for terminally ill animals or those considered dangerous to public safety - never for space, funding, time, or convenience.

Do you offer refunds?

The Thomasville Humane Society is a nonprofit organization. As such refunds generally will not be given; however, Administration and the Board of Directors may consider refunds on a case by case basis. If you would like us to consider a request for a refund, please contact us.

What do I do if I lost my pet?

Read our suggestions on our Lost Pets page, including reporting to relevant “lost and found” social media pages. As of January 1, 2023, we are no longer providing animal control services for Thomas County. If your pet is lost, please contact the sheriff's department and the Thomas County Board of Commissioners.

How Do I give permission for Thomasville Humane to use my photo?

We love using photos of our volunteers and participants in our social media and other marketing! But we want to make sure you are ok with that first. If you didn’t complete the release at the event, please fill out the Media Waiver form and return it to us. Parents must sign the release for children under 18. Then we will be able to use all those adorable photos of you and your family with our amazing animals!

Can I bring a stray animal to you?

No. Effective January 1, 2023, we are no longer providing animal services to Thomas County. For all animal control services - such as accepting stray animals and responding to citizen complaints about loose, lost, abandoned, neglected, abused, or dangerous animals - please call 911. All such services will now be under the purview of Thomas County as the Thomas County Board of Commissioners and County Manager Michael J. Stephenson decided to pursue a government-run animal services plan. Who do I call for animal control?

For animal control services, please call 911. If you have further questions about the Thomas County-provided animal control services, or if you are not satisfied with the service provided by dispatch and law enforcement, please contact the sheriff’s department or the Thomas County Board of Commissioners at 229-226-3430 or the email addresses below.
